People who inspire us
During times of crisis, we look to people who inspire us. We have expectations that the people whom we trust, will provide moral support and help us overcome the situation and find our way to a better place. This project comprises interviews with Sebastatsi community: students, teachers, mentors, parents, etc.
“I’m a huge “ideastorm” (just invented a new word) ”: Ilona Sahakyan
-You think outside the box and you inspire a lot of people. How would you account for the fact that if the teachers want a project to be successful they involve you in it?
A character trait of mine, which pushes me forward is that whatever I do I try to do my best, so it turns out to be great and as “flawless” as possible. Moreover I do love cooperating and working on different projects. I’m a huge “ideastorm” (just invented a new word). A bunch of ideas spring to my mind as soon as I think of the project. I’m lucky enough, because I have the ability to present my ideas in the right manners. Besides, people often t
tell me about my contagious energy, they say whenever I’m happy I somehow make everyone around me happy, or at least smile.
So as I take a delight in the process, we build a creative and professional atmosphere resulting the progress we want to make.
-Will you please tell us about your voluntary work and entrepreneurship activities? Tell us a bit about your own school where you teach foreign languages.
First of all, I’d like to say I adore volunteering and working. Even when I was a child, I couldn’t wait to grow up and work like my sisters did. That’s why I started to work at the age of 12 as an English tutor. By the time, while I was teaching English, studying at school and attending courses in AUA, I gained new ideas and methods of teaching, the whole educational system. Eventually my mom: my number 1 supporter, gave the idea to open our own language center: “ILONA” Educational Centre. I attended Business school and worked on everything connected to it, participated in SMM courses: IEC appeared on social media. Wonderful children, teenagers and adults became my passionate students. Our motto is: Be kind, Dream Big, Take Action. I’ve written my own teaching plan, program, therefore my educational center is based on it.
-At your young age you plan to end wars. How are you going to work for peace?
It all started in 2019, when I became a member of an international Youth Peace Camp, held in Moldova. We were announced Peace Ambassadors in the whole world. Peace is what we lack in our nations, countries and between us: human beings. As I consider my responsibility to build peace, I hope I will become the megaphone of peace and spread the idea of it. I would start my peace building activities this year, but a more important project was waiting for me. So I started the Educational Revolution.
